NPS jurisdiction
National status does not give NPS unrestricted jurisdiction.
NPS acts only where central competence exists, applicable law confers jurisdiction, the matter falls within its functional remit and any required authorisation and cooperation arrangements are satisfied.
Territorial policing remains territorial
South Havenstead Police provides ordinary territorial policing in Havenstead. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is an England territorial police force within the Hampshire settlement. Functional similarities between these institutions do not merge them.
